This is a well documented group to John David Watson, Jr. who was in the Navy for many years. His career started on February 12, 1936 and continued through his retirement as Commander in 1965. he was born June 20, 1917 in Alexandria, Louisiana and died in July 1984 in California. His group includes his 1940 dated Good Conduct medal with second award bar. After WW2 he became an officer and was in the CB's and Naval civil engineers.
His original Discharge dated February 19, 1940 shows that up to that time he had been stationed in New Orleans,Norfolk, San Diego,Pearl Harbor and then back at San Diego. He re-enlisted in San Diego on March 1, 1940. By that time, he was an AM2c. His service number at that time was 2742450. His next Discharge document dated January 6, 1948 shows that he was an Aviation Chief Metalsmith and served (in order) in VP-43, NAS Seattle, NATTCEN, Norman, OK, USS Wasp, CASU 54, HedRon 14-1, CASU 5. NAS Yonabaru, Okinawa, and NAF Naha, Okinawa.
