John William Mauzey was born in Missouri May 9, 1907 and died in that state December 9, 1996. Internet information on him is sketchy. It does appear that he married Pauline Nash on June 19, 1937. He must have had a long Navy career. It is known that he was in the Pacfic theater in the 1940's. He reported aboard the USS Dixie March 17, 1945, and was there at least until 1946. Dixie was in San Pedro Bay in Leyte from March, 1945 until the end of the war, at which time she was sent to Okinawa and Shanghai for occupation duty. At least one Navy Muster Roll indicates he may have been in a PT Squadron earlier, but no definitive data is available on that service.

SK2c Mauzey's group includes his photograph in uniform, a picture of the Dixie, an SK2c rating badge, a brass nameplate with his name, a mounted set of ribbons, and medals as follows: American Campaign, Asiatic/Pacific Campaign with one star, China Service, WW2 Victory, Occupation with Asia bar, Philippine Liberation, and Philippine Independence. Ribbons for Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and Navy Overseas Service are included.
