John Hodgkinson was born May 10, 1893 in Philadelphia, the son of James and Tillie Hodgkinson. The family was living in Youngstown, Ohio in 1917. When first enlisted, on May 3, 1917, John was in Company C, 332nd Infantry until February 23, 1918. He was in Company C, 11th Infantry until disharge, and was overseas from June 15, 1918 until January 4, 1910, then discharged April 10, 1919. He was severely wounded November 6, 1918, having been promoted to Sergeant on November 1, 1918. No information has been found about his life after WW1, except that in 1930, at age 37, he was living at home with his parents in Ohio.

This group consists of John's officially engraved American Emblem Co. WW1 Purple Heart, edge numbered 66721, two bar WW1 Victory medal, and WW1 dogtags on their cord, plus internet research.
