Private Penn Franks Jr. was from San Antonio, Texas, where he lived with his mother, Girlie Franks. He was part of the all black 92nd Division that went into the line in Italy in late 1944. At age 20, Franks was KIA/MIA in the action in the near Vallichia, Italy during the Serchio Valley action on February 10, 1945, only a day before the division was withdrawn to reorganize. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. The officially engraved slot booch Purple Heart comes with its original case. The location of his bronze star is unknown.
