Herbert H. Boyd hailed from Missiuri where he was born May 8, 1912. He enlisted April 25, 1942. He was "…killed instantaneously while his platoon went on a patrolling mission on the Seine on 25 August near St. Martin in Garenne, France." He was buried at Plot A, Row 21, Grave 44 at the Normandy American Cemetery.
SSGT Boyd's group includes his officially engraved slot brooch posthumous Purple Heart with its presntation box. Boyd's IDPF, that includes much correspondence between his parents and the Army, accompanies this group It is from this file that the information on Boyd was obtained.
