George Olson was born in Caresco, Nebraska April 24, 1916. He enlisted in the Army January 19, 1943 in Mason City, Iowa. He was with the 16th Armored Division that arrived in France February, 1945. They advanced into Germany and Czechoslovakia, and were there on VJ Day. According to Ancestry, George died in Iowa in May of 1982.

This group includes his Victory medal, Good Conduct medal, American Campaign medal, American Defense medal, and European Campaign medal, plus three ribbon bars, two pair of dogtags, discharge button, and WO insignia. Also included is a laminated pocket size copy of Olson's Certificate of Service. His earlier dogtags have the serial number 37046000.
